In Lochside’s heyday it produced single grain and single malt whiskies but eventually stopped production in 1992. This release spent 41 years in a refill sherry hogshead, which endowed the single malt with an intensely fruity but well-balanced character….
70cl / 57.5% / The Whisky Exchange – Matured in a single Oloroso sherry cask, this 1981 Lochside was bottled by TWE in 2010 just shy of its 30th birthday. A dramatic old-school sherried Highlander, still very fresh, this needs a drop of water to reveal its full nutty, oaky, fruity, waxy majesty.

There are plenty of fruity and chocolatey aromas with stewed pears and cacao nibs, leading to notes of desiccated coconut and citrus, all underpinned by baking spice.
